New Custom Blog Theme is Finally Up
February 12th, 2008 | 15 commentsAfter a long wait and some issues, caused by myself, the theme is finally up!! This theme was created by Sean Lowery, who does most of the amazing graphics you see on the blog. There are several small tweaks and bugs that will be worked out in the next few days, but overall it’s complete and I’m extremely happy with it.
As you see, there is a “featured product” section in the header, which I’ll be replacing with new products as I find them. It’s hard to find products I honestly recommend though, so you’ll probably see the same one for weeks at a time.
I’ll also be implementing the Gravatar system into the comments field soon, which I initially found over at SlickMania, so be sure to go sign up for a free account there so you don’t have a blank face when leaving comments
I’ve been busy working on several different projects lately, so I apologize for my lack of posting. I’ll be doing an in-depth write-up on duplicate content tomorrow, so stop by to see that!

Cool, very nice theme – I see that the tri-section headers and footers are getting really popular these days.

Looks fantastic. A huge improvement.

The theme looks great, Josh. I’m really impressed with it now that I see it in use.
Thanks for the tip on Gravatars. I’d heard the term, but never taken the time…but I just put them into place on my blog as well.
And dude…your subscriber number just keeps crankin’…that’s more than just slow and steady growth. It seems like you have 10 more every day lately….you must be doin’ somethin’ right. Or else you found a way to BUY subscribers.

Josh,
Glad to see you are joining the Gravatar revolution!
Now that Automattic (WordPress) owns it, I think it is great to support them by using Gravatars. They also load much faster than MyBlogLog since Automattic fixed it up.
I think the new theme looks incredible. Very smooth look. Did you know that your links seem to blend in with the black font? Or at least they do for visited links. Just an FYI…

Thanks alot for the great compliments everyone. I’m very pleased as well
It was well worth the wait!
@ Chuck – It’s natural growth I can assure you lol I’m somewhat happy with it, but when you look at the growth of others, like Carolines, it’s like nothing.
@ Kyle – Yeah, there are a few other CSS issues being worked out today.
- links will stand out more
- text around images
- blockquote resize
I’ll also be using a custom button for the email RSS form, once I figure out how
Couple other things as well, like the related posts plugin that I need to plug into this theme.

Where is an affordable place to have a custom wordpress blog installed, I’m having a tough time learning to do it myself.

Hi Jeremy,
If you just want WordPress installed put in a ticket at http://www.askjoshspaulding.com and I’ll do it for you free of charge.
If you’re looking for a custom theme I used http://www.wpcreations.com/ Sean is an outstanding designer!

Josh,
Great new theme! Looks fantastic. Now, I’m going to have to do something about mine – although I don’t have the time.
One comment: when leaving comments, it’d be good to have some space between the paragraphs. I leave a blank when typing, but there’s no blank line when I post. Apart from that, it’s great!

Thanks alot Stephen. Get busy on yours
The entire comment sections has work to be done. I’m outsourcing it because we all know I couldn’t code if my life depended on it (not even CSS.) It looks like the person I paid to make these tables around the comments somehow got rid of the command that inserts < br > for spaces. There are also a couple other things I see. Hopefully we get those worked out today.

Hey Josh,
Sorry, finally got by to have a look and it’s mighty slick my friend
Looking back at the way your blog started out, it’s a whole new world.
Anyway, I’m impressed along with all the others and still enjoying your great content too – yeah, I know you’re more than just a pretty face!!

@ darshanz, looking forward to it, thanks.
@ Maurice, I was starting to think you fell off the face of the earth.
Thanks for the compliments! Sean did a great job with it indeed. Still a couple things to work out though.
I’m glad you see beyond my pretty face lol
