I made a Thanksgiving post that basically said happy thanksgiving to our American readers. I don't really have an issue when I read blogs that talk about different holidays in their countries. I like learning more about them actually.

As I'm from Germany I think this Thanksgiving thing is quite funny. At my place this day is just like any other day, except it is labeled Thanksgiving on the calendar.

However I think it's great. You should keep Your traditions, so it will remain interesting to visit Your country. Would be boring if every country celebrated the same days.

No problem Brent. I knew you weren't trying to. I'm just sensitive when it comes to this subject :)

Wow, I heard there is alot of communist like laws being passed like not being able to smoke outside in some areas?

There are definitely other nationalities that want to be Americans, but those are becoming fewer every minute W is president.

There are more and more Countries (even some civilized Countries) where Americans have to be VERY careful where they go alone. There are ALOT of people who HATE Americans and like I said, that # of people who want to be American is dwindling down very rapidly.

I get your points though and I do agree to a point. ;)

Hi Josh,

Sorry if I hit a nerve. That wasn't my intention.

I don't consider myself an arrogant American, I just don't understand the political correctness that has spread like a plague across our country. If someone gets PO'ed because I wish them a Happy Thanksgiving or a Merry Christmas, then so be it.

In CA the Governor signed a law that will ban the words "mom" and "dad" from school materials because it could be offensive to gays and lesbians. What is happening in our country?

As an American, I don't consider myself better than anyone else. Of course, we get no choice where we are born. But it is no secret that people from all over the globe want to call our country home. How many people do you see lined up to move to some country in Africa, South America, or the Middle East.

I enjoy reading your blog and am very appreciative for your service to our country. It is the sacrifices of you and those like you that give me the ability to openly agree to disagree with you on this one.

Good Luck,

Not everyone is American, I agree. But most want to be :)

Oh, by the way, I've been to 12 different Countries and it's actually quite the opposite from my experience :) especially since we voted in the that W guy.

Hi Brent,

I'm a proud American. I served 5 years in the army. Fought in the initial invasion of Iraq. Served in Korea, Germany, etc. etc.

I love my Country.

BUT I'm not an Arrogant American either!! My wife is German and she does like the States, but I find it offensive when other Americans makes statements like that. We don't control where we are born! Just because someone is from a different Country doesn't mean you or I are any better.

I know that's a bit off subject and you didn't say you were better than them. The last statement just sounded a bit arrogant and there are so many Americans who think they are better than everyone else, it just kinda erks me off. ;)

I do wish I could retract this post though. I do believe we should always try to include everyone in our posts, auto-responders etc. but it's not really THAT big of a deal.

There is to much political correctness in this world if you ask me. My largest site has around 25,000 email subscribers. If I offend someone for wishing them a Happy Thanksgiving, I'd take pride in seeing them leave.

Sorry I'm not sensitive. It's late here....

I agree with you Josh. I started my own Thanksgiving post, then deleted it. :) While I'm sure this type of post is much accepted and loved to be read by all in certain niches, I just wasn't sure I wanted to "go there" on my blog. I'm glad I didn't, too. Of course, you can always tie in the holidays with a topic on a blog, but I prefer to leave the turkey and pies on my on table, thankyouverymuch. ;)

I agree with Pat...it's good to stir in a bit of controversy. And it made me realize I should have added "to those of you who celebrate it" to my Thanksgiving blog post.
