.
I initially purchased a course on How to Build a List from Anik's Affiliate Classroom site. Instead of charging his overpriced monthly membership of $97 a month for being a member of AC (which I had no intention of paying). Anik must've decided to make the change to offering free membership to AC as well as offering paid individual courses a la carte. That is where he got me to buy the Affsphere Article Directory membership for $67 more dollars last April 2010. And to this day, I can not find a single receipt or proof of purchase email to show for the two products I bought from him off the Afflilate Classroom site. Odd, considering that I do try to keep records of all my business purchases. I believe that all I received from Anik were thank you messages and download links to the products/membership site. Which doesn't exactly give you the option of changing your mind and getting a refund.

thanks josh
I was recommended to affsphere but i had bad vibes from the start. the blog who recommened the site had a video on affsphere and when i clicked on it was told that there youtube account associated with this video is closed. so i googled the site and had a look and i think it stinks i tried to register so i could submit an article but i was brought to a salespage which was trying to sell me some report for 10 dollars or 5 if you reccomend 3 people.
I decided to check for reviews and seen yours.I am so glad i read your review as it only confirmed my doubts. I am begining to build my own article directory and i feel affsphere is a model of how not to do it. I agree with you when you say they are biting off more than they can chew by having such loose guidelines. but when i seen it was created by anik singal my only surprise was that mike filsame had not created it first but i guess he was too busy promoting his latest ''money for old rope cash blueprint formula'':) oh well back to building my directory.....
ps: really enjoyed your site will be back for more thanks again.

Josh,

I must say I think this one post of yours has done more for your image (at least in my mind) than a thousand general information and positive product reviews ever could.

Thanks for calling it as you see it and not doing a thin affiliate review -- I am really so tired of those things.

Switching up ? What did the comment mean, overall ? Totally incomprehensible to my ears I'm afraid.

Working on an article directory right now so this def helped me a lot to switch up our editorial guidelines we are working on. Still trying to figure out whether we want to let people include affiliate links or not.

Thanks for the detailed review, Josh! I hadn't actually heard of this site before, and now, especially after reading all the comments, I became kind of curious.

So while I agree with a lot of your caveats, I also agree with your statement that it's really quite a smart idea, especially from a marketing point of view.

And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Wish I had come up with it ;-)

And in terms of submitting articles there... I don't think of it as an either/or proposition. I've got plenty of articles to go around, and what with being able to publish them in multiple directories anyway, I figure, why not publish a few over there too, and see what happens.

As I said, now I'm curious. I want to see how this pans out and where they can take it. I'm not exactly counting on this to make me rich, though, quickly or otherwise. But I'm open and receptive to all good things that may come to me.

As far as the competition is concerned... that strikes me as no different than in any other directory, so I won't worry about that. If I can earn some credits and get my banner ads posted there, it means more exposure, and that sounds pretty good to me.

So thanks for alerting me to this opportunity while also helping me keep my wits about me as I give this a shot.

AffSphere is not as widespread as it seems. Google is only showing about 20,000 pages on this.

However, being that you have given them adequate attention. Your experience with them is very helpful and will caution others.

Thanks

Josh:
Thanks for your thorough explanation of all this. As a newbie to Article Marketing, your review has saved me a lot of time.
Thanks.

AffSphere seems to be everywhere. More often than not people will review something postively just to get a commission so it is good to see an unbiased review.
