If you're retaining the traffic you receive, you don't need thousands of daily visitors. Maintaining a helpful blog is a great way to do that, but building a list is an even better way. But, at least you're in good company. Others have gone down the same path. I just see it as a sad compromise. But if you go research it you can come up with some value.
