@ Andy – Yeah, I’m not looking to spend too much time on it. With that being said I probably should be complaining about it either. Just hoping to find a better alternative than Akismet…we’ll see.

@ Mark – Yeah, but if those people can’t invest 1 minute out of their day to rescue legit comments they probably shouldn’t be blogging in the first place. That’s not directed toward anyone in particular, but it’s just really not that time consuming. However, Akismet should improve their system so legit comments don’t end up there in the first place.

@ Dennis – nah, just deleted it lol

@ Alex – I have to admit overall it is useful, it’s just the fact that alot of good comments get filtered that I don’t like.

@ Sid – I’ll be honest with you…I haven’t seen an improvement with SK. But it offers ALOT of configuration, so I’d imagine if I were to really get technical with it, it could be configured to do very well.

Right now I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m probably going to go back to Akismet for the time being until I can come up with the best possible configuration for SK.

I haven’t had any real issues yet either, but yes you do need to check it…some legit comments will get caught.

I hadn’t heard about this problem before. I swear by Akismet and it has saved me from some 20,000 spam comments in the last year. I don’t know if that is a lot compared to most or if I am getting off lightly.
I set all comments to be moderated and Askimet seemed to be doing an excellent job.
Now I am starting to wonder if they were all spam or not but I usually just have a quick browse theough the first page of so and they are all junk comments so I delete the lot.
Have you noticed an improvement with Spam Karma?

So far I have only had good karma from akismet! I just compare my experience of blogging before akisment…I would not be without it.

Mark – I know how that feels coming from the owner perspective. I just recently apologized to a commenter as a few of his got caught for about a week before I noticed.

Josh – I woulda checked the background on that comment…it seemed a little TOO ironic lol

It is so frustrating when I take the time to leave responsible comments on blogs and they never show up!

I don’t blame the owners of the blogs, because often these people just don’t have the time to edit their Akismet file.

I use a slightly different option which is slightly more time consuming, with all but the most frequent comments and trackback sources going into moderation. It works ok for me because I do like to visit the blogs of people who leave comments, plus I am a little picky about whose comments remain on the blog… and get sent by email to people (when I have Subscription running)

Dennis, “akismet hell” is just my made-up phrase for their spam filter.
