Contest Winners Announced

Blog Contest Winners Announced First I’d like to thank you all for participating. All of your answers were extremely interesting to me and I didn’t read one answer that was necessarily “bad.”

Before I announce the winners (it’s not like you can’t just scroll down eh?) I want to answer the questions with my own answers and explain what I was looking for in your answers.

If you had $10,000 to invest in your Business, what would you invest it in? This could be one thing or any number of things.

- I’d invest in a pre-established Website that is already making money. Why build an empire when you can buy one, preferably one that is somewhat automated. Just look at all the celebrities who are now making more money off their clothing lines and restaurants then they ever made as actors etc. Did they build it? hello no, they bought it all. I’ve purchased several pre-established Websites in the past which have paid for themselves many times over.

There are many different business models and we all do things differently, so obviously I couldn’t say whether or not your answer was “good” or “bad.” But, some answers stood out among others.

What is your breaking point? In other words, what would cause you to quit trying to create a full-time income online.

- Nothing!

The answers to this question weighed heavily on my decision, although it wasn’t the only deciding factor. I was looking for those who will honestly never quit. If it makes you happy to see something get difficult then you’re on the verge of success, or you’re already there. Things that are easy very rarely yield quality results. For this question I was looking for those who realize that!

What are your three main priorities in life? (most important to least important)

- a) Taking care of my Family and making them happy.
- b) Being a good person. I’m far from perfect, but I believe very strongly that we should all continuously strive to be good people. Just imagine how great the World would be if we all at least tried to do the right thing all the time. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve done some bad things and regrettably I still do from time to time, but I continuously try to do what’s right and correct what I’ve done wrong.
- c) Business/Finance – This ties into #1 because although it’s true money doesn’t buy happiness, a lack thereof creates all sorts of bad mojo!

Friends would be a close 4th.

There are alot of variables here as well. However, I believe family/loved-ones and being a good person should always be up at the top.

Congratulations to the winners. Dang, now I’m going to have to BUY the Seth Godin book! Oh well, maybe after I finish “Meatball Sundae”.

Thanks Josh, for a fun and interesting contest.

@ Terry and Jordan – Thanks for being “good sports.” You both had some excellent answers and thanks again for taking part in the contest and your support of the blog in general. I wish I had the money to send everyone $200, but it’ll take a year or two before I can do that :)

Interesting results and congratulations to the winners from me too.

I’ve just suffered a loss of laptop and consequently many of my tools (temporary as everything was backed up) but it’s now a case of getting the desktop working to my liking – all my RSS feeds missing for one thing which is a right royal pain and causing to miss a lot of recent blog posts!

Ah well, I’ll enter the next one :-)

Congrats to the winners … all good answers. Josh, next time, could you please hold your contest on a weekend? lol, I swear to you, I read the post the other day, and fully intended to enter … but by the time I got a chance last night to sit down and think about the answers I saw this post announcing the winners.

Oh well, maybe next time :)

@ Maurice – Ah bummer!!! Great to hear you had everything backed up though and thanks for the reminder. I have 2 external hard drives for that purpose and I don’t back up nearly as much as I should.

@ Todd- Bummer again. I did state when the contest was going to end, but I had it at the end of the post. Sorry about that. Next time I’ll post it at the top as well. I know not everyone reads every word, including myself.

@ Doug – Well it’s great to have you :) There will be more contests in the future, so you’ll get more chances. Looking forward to seeing you around.

    Congrats to all who participated!

    Hey Josh,

Great to be back from my long trip in Paris, France.
Its like a dream to be there on a honeymoon.

I like your answers in no.1 , its a true blue investor
mindset. Now, if only I’m able to churn up that
much cash from my own personal profits…

    Cheers,
    Vern

Hey Vern, great to hear from you!! It’s a great place isn’t it? I was only there for a weekend traveling from Germany several years back, but I managed to bust my head open an hour before midnight on new years eve at the tower and lose a bottle of Dom Perignon :) I get reminded of it every night when I wash my hair and feel that bump lol

Great to have you back and I hope to see you around.

So Josh, you’re getting rid of “Purple Cow” . . . I was thinking about buying one, what do you think of it?

@ Terry – I bought 2 copies several months back. One to read and one to give away. To be honest with you I haven’t even read it yet. I’m one of those guys who has a big bookshelf full of books he’s never read. People think I’m smart when they see so many books in my house :D
