Bum Marketing Definition

I just wanted to write a short post explaining exactly what “Bum Marketing” really is. So many people refer to “Bum Marketing” as “Article Marketing” and it’s just not true.

OK so this isn’t such a big deal. I just want to get it off my chest. :)

The Definition of Bum Marketing

Bum Marketing is a technique that has been around for years. Recently Travis Sago put together a nice training course outlining this method and called it “The Bum Marketing Method.” He did a great job marketing it and it went totally viral.

The basic concept is using article marketing, classified ads etc. to promote affiliate products. The name was created because Travis claims “It’s so easy a bum could do it,” similar to Geico’s “It’s so easy a caveman could do it.”

I still hear people referring to Bum Marketing as Article Marketing, it’s not! If anything I would say it’s a form of Affiliate Marketing.

Article Marketing is simply one of the techniques used in the “Bum Marketing Method”.

OK, so now you know and we can all sleep better tonight ;)

    Thanks for the clarification of that. As I have been running across this term alot lately and from what I could tell, it was basically what I had been doing already…I just had to find out for sure that I had the correct definition of Bum Marketing! lol

    Not only is Internet Marketing changing all the time but also the terms…so I am glad you had to get that off your chest…was helpful.

    Thanks Josh, I guess I’m one of those guys who has been using those terms inter-changeably. Now, thinking back about all this from the Travis perspective, which is where I first heard about it, you are so right… article marketing IS just a part of “bum marketing”.

    Thanks so much for clearing that up.
